Colposcopy is an important step to preserve women's health

Modern gynecology offers many effective methods for diagnosing diseases of the cervix, and one of the most informative is colposcopy. This procedure allows the doctor to carefully examine the mucous membrane of the cervix, vagina and vulva using a special optical device — a colposcope, which magnifies the image several times.

Colposcopy is performed painlessly, under normal conditions, and takes no more than 10-15 minutes. It helps to identify early epithelial changes, inflammatory processes, erosions, dysplasia and other pathological conditions that cannot be seen with the naked eye. Regular carrying out of this procedure is especially important for the prevention and early diagnosis of cervical cancer.

There are several types of colposcopy:

A simple colposcopy is a visual examination of the mucous membrane without the use of solutions.

Extended colposcopy is performed using special reagents (for example, a solution of acetic acid or iodine), which help to more clearly identify pathological areas.

The procedure is absolutely safe and does not require special training, but it is recommended to perform it outside of menstruation and refrain from using vaginal products two days before the study. The doctor may recommend colposcopy for complaints of discharge, bleeding, unpleasant sensations, as well as after receiving abnormal results of a cytological smear (PAP test).

The main advantage of colposcopy is the accuracy of the diagnosis: if necessary, during the procedure, the doctor can take a small tissue sample (biopsy) for subsequent analysis. This allows you to make an accurate diagnosis and choose the optimal treatment strategy at an early stage.

Regular preventive colposcopy is a reliable way to preserve women's health, prevent the development of serious diseases and feel confident in yourself. Modern methods make the study as comfortable as possible, and timely referral to a specialist helps to avoid complications and maintain a high quality of life.
